Beverston Accountants are an accountancy, taxation and business support firm based in Plymouth.

Formed in 2017, we take a personal approach to helping our clients with their finance and business affairs, combining sharp expertise with engaging relationships – enabling us to give our clients the best possible service and advice they can count on.

Technological change was one of the motivating forces for launching Beverston. The innovation of cloud access and the arrival of Xero software have made it much simpler and more affordable to provide effective accounting, tax and bookkeeping services. With HMRC bringing in Making Tax Digital (MTD), we can ensure our clients’ businesses are ready for this new way of doing things.

We are continually evolving to stay relevant and provide value to our clients in a changing landscape. Beverston are here for your business now and in readiness for the future.

Meet our team

  • Martin Caruana

    FOUNDER & DIRECTOR

Martin formed Beverston Accountants in 2017. After 20 years of working in other Plymouth accountancy firms, he felt it was the right time to take the leap and start a new firm. He intended for Beverston to operate with a high level of engagement with its clients. This called for good listening skills, clear thinking, emotional intelligence and, just as importantly, a sense of familiarity. Martin wanted clients to feel comfortable in discussing their financial affairs without feeling judged or talked down to.

Beverston began life in Martin’s garage (in Beverston Way, Plymouth) and has steadily grown to become an excellent and dedicated team of people. Having started the business from scratch, Martin understands the difficulties and struggles of being a business owner, helping him to relate to clients and their day-to-day problems and successes.

  • Callum Elliott

    SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Callum joined Beverston straight from school as an apprentice. He flew through his training and has a natural ability which comes from simply enjoying what he does. Callum also understands that learning about current business and economic matters is important, which provides knowledge and understanding beyond just looking at the numbers.

Callum takes a keen interest in our clients and provides a friendly, courteous and efficient service to them. He is the first point of contact for many of our clients and covers all areas of our business and services.

  • George Channon

    ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT / BOOKKEEPER

George joined our team in the summer of 2022. He started as an apprentice straight after finishing A Levels, and his progress in his new career has been swift.

George works across all aspects of the business; from bookkeeping to accounts and taxation. He is Xero certified and enjoys getting things spot on and reconciled.

  • Lisa Caruana

    DIRECTOR

Prior to working at Beverston, Lisa worked in the Civil Service and HR recruitment for the NHS. Lisa learned many skills in both jobs and fully committed herself to those roles while helping her husband, Martin, in setting up the business.

As Beverston continued to grow, Martin persuaded Lisa to leave her employment and come to work with him in the business. Lisa brings her professionalism and organisational talents to the team (which includes keeping Martin in line and working efficiently!)

Independent experts we partner with

  • Sue Williams

    SAPPHIRE BOOKKEEPING

Sue is an important part of Beverston history. She joined as a director shortly after the launch and grew the business with Martin. Sue is a fast-working bookkeeper who relishes the challenge of turning a messy set of books and records into a tidy and clear set of data. Her way of working is consistent with the Beverston philosophy – to provide a friendly, approachable and efficient service.

Now a self-employed bookkeeper, Sue runs her own business, Sapphire Bookkeeping. This change afforded her the time and flexibility she needed to focus more on family life. Sue continues to collaborate with Beverston, working with the same loyal clients. Sue sorts the books while Beverston handles the accounts and tax affairs. It’s the best of both worlds for our clients.

  • Maxine Davis

    1 LESS WORRY BOOKKEEPING SERVICES

Maxine is a self-employed bookkeeper and payroll expert who Martin has known and enjoyed working with for more than 25 years. She goes above and beyond for her clients and becomes a significant part of their organisations and day-to-day lives.

Maxine is always willing to chat and able to dispense sound advice. In the past, she has also operated a larger scale bookkeeping business – now, however, she prefers to keep things on a smaller scale for the clients who she really enjoys working with.

  • Claire Perry

    VIRTUAL ASSISTANT

Claire supports business owners with administrative work – to allow them the space to maximise their income, set up systems that will save time, and focus on the tasks they enjoy and are best at!

Martin has enjoyed knowing and working with Claire for many years. Claire works very diligently and is not one to cut corners. This attention to detail and pride in her work gives great reassurance. If Claire takes on a job, you know it will be done properly.
